Spinal deformity can have any cause (congenital, idiopathic, neuromuscular, secondary ...). The most common is conservative treatment - observation, rehabilitation, torso orthoses. In case of deterioration and the size of curvature of more than 40 degrees according to Cobb, scoliosis is solved by surgery. Scoliosis in adulthood may be of a dual nature

Adult patients with idiopathic scoliosis have had scoliosis since childhood.

Adolescent scoliosis "De Novo" or scoliosis developing up to adulthood due to degeneration of the spine. It is an asymmetric degeneration of the intervertebral disc and subsequent scoliotic deformity mainly of the lumbar spine. This is mostly associated with oppression of the nerve structures and the spinal cord.

Both types of deformity gradually deteriorate over time. The worse the deformity gets, the worse is clinical (cosmetic) finding and especially progresses the back pain. In severe findings, intradermal and abdominal organs can be opressed. Indications for surgery are chronic spinal pain and eventual oppression of the nerve root accompanying subjective problems.
